Somerset County 4-H Club
The Rutgers Cooperative Extension 4‑H Youth Development Program uses a learn-by-doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world. Their mission is accomplished by using the knowledge and resources of the land-grant university system, along with the involvement of caring adults.
FRC Team R.O.B.B.E. 56
FRC Team ROBBE is a high school robotics team based in Bound Brook High School. Founded in 1997, ROBBE is a partnership between Bound Brook High School and Ethicon. Members of the teamwork side-by-side with S.T.E.M. professionals, develop 21st century skills such as enhanced time management, organization, and communication skills, all the while participating in FIRST, an international high school robotics competition.
Middle Earth Center
Middle Earth is a non-profit, community-based agency located in Somerset County, New Jersey that has been providing services to adolescents since 1972. Their mission is to provide youth with prevention and intervention services to help them develop into responsible, self-sufficient members of the community. Their programs, which are free to youth, guide teens in learning respect for themselves and others, serving the community as volunteers, preparing for a bright future, and choosing positive alternatives to risky behaviors.
The Somerset County Youth Council was established to develop leadership skills and to give youth a forum where their ideas and concerns can be expressed and conveyed to the Board of County Commissioners. Members are actively solicited from middle schools and high schools (both public and private) in Somerset County. Activities of the council are coordinated by the students to promote youth leadership. Youth Council members develop ideas for programming that can be implemented in the community.
